We often think of thanksgiving in terms of the holiday named for the virtue. “Happy Thanksgiving,” we say, with the best of intentions and the merriest of hearts. In the process, we might inadvertently equate the two — happy and thanksgiving — as if they must go together.

When Diane Rhodes and her family joined Medi-Share 25 years ago, there was a touch of hesitancy in the decision. After all, the ministry had only been around for five short years. Diane recalls, “Our main concern when we joined Medi-Share was: Is this a fly-by-night thing?”

Fall brings with it more than pumpkin spice lattes and comfy sweaters. It also brings unique opportunities to engage with our neighbors.

For young people entering adulthood, one of the ways that life hits hard is in the area of finances. In a financial literacy study conducted by the University of South Florida, less than half of college-graduate respondents could correctly answer three questions designed to determine financial aptitude.

Medi-Share member and volunteer Brenda Schweitzer has come to a powerful realization over the past decade. “Medi-Share is a ministry,” she says. “It’s the body of Christ. It’s different, and it’s worth fighting for.”

Back in 1989, the National Honey Board officially began the observance of National Honey Month in order to promote awareness for beekeepers across the country. September was chosen as the month of celebration because it usually marks the end of annual honey collection when bees settle in to secure their hives for the winter.

With eleven kids in their family, Carrie Ayers and her husband are certainly extra blessed — and extra busy! But when it comes to any health issues, the Ayers are confident their decision to choose Medi-Share will never cause extra stress. In fact, one word pops up continually as she talks about her Medi-Share experience: Easy.

In this fallen world, it’s guaranteed that you know, have known, or will know someone who’s hurting. Maybe it’s a physical hurt — an acute sickness, injury, or chronic illness. Maybe it’s an emotional hurt — a loss, rejection, or broken heart.
