I have always loved to read. As I look back, I am hard-pressed to remember a time when I wasn’t reading. And, yes, I am that person who always has a book (or two) on me, just in case I’m stuck in a line, or at a very long red light.

We had many reasons for moving. I did not get an email from heaven that would point the way, so I looked at our circumstances and gave this decision to the Lord. We are committed Christ-followers and desired to make a decision in alignment with that commitment. After thoughtful prayer and consideration, we decided this move would be best for our family.

While traveling to visit family during the holidays, I was reminded of a convenience that I often take for granted.

Your finances can seem like both a gift and a curse when navigating through life. It can be a sense of overwhelming accomplishment or a downward spiral that can lead to health issues if not managed.

Can I be honest with you all? New Year’s Day seems a little sneaky to me. After we’ve spent the last two months gorging ourselves on cream cheese balls and all manner of delicious sweets, we are walloped with a holiday that has self-evaluation baked into its DNA. Like, seriously? Who planned this out? I’m not ready to be under the microscope!

Frustrated, stressed, and frankly, not wanting to deal with the problem at hand, I grabbed the bag of chips and started munching away in hopes to feel better about the difficult situation that had just arose.

There are few things in life that I wish for more than a bright future for my children. Yes, I want them to be successful in whatever career or ministry God calls them to. Of course, I want them to experience the joy that comes from raising a family of their own. Sure, I would even love to leave them a nice inheritance, have their college aspirations fully funded, and keep them from experiencing many of the learning pains I had as a young adult.
