Labor Day is set aside to honor those who work hard. It’s meant to grant the laborer a holiday of much-needed rest.

Everyone has that one thing that makes them emotional, releases stress, spikes endorphins, something that draws every fiber of your being to feel so deeply. For me, that thing is music. Music is so beautiful in the way it speaks to everyone so diversely. It can cause you to feel emotions in a way you wouldn’t experience them otherwise.

What do you want to be when you grow up? [As appeared on BostonHerald.com] As a child and later as a mom, this has been a frequent conversation starter in my home. I personally wanted to be a psychiatrist, but when we started exploring careers in school, I realized it would require a medical focus. I can’t deal with blood, so that dream was quickly dashed.

Some of the hardest times in our lives to trust in God are when our plans get ruined. We have expectations, we have hope, but then everything shifts. “Why God would you do this to me? Did I make a mistake putting my trust in you?”

My mom was born at home in eastern Tennessee in 1935. She was the third girl and named Bennie Mae after her dad. Not unusual in a rural farming community of the time, my grandparents had 8 more children after her.

One of the most difficult challenges we face these days is how to consume the news. We want to know what is happening in the world, but figuring out how much time to spend on it, where to spend that time, and how to spend that time without being constantly angry is a difficulty that few believers or non-believers have a handle on.

As we head into the Father's Day weekend, Christian Care Ministry employee Chris Goettig was asked to share a bit about his life and testimony during a recent employee chapel service. We pray you are as blessed by his testimony as we were as employees.
