What Are Expenses Eligible for Sharing with Medi-Share?

Examples of Expenses Eligible for Sharing with Medi-Share

1. Hospital Stays and Surgeries

   Medi-Share covers expenses for medically necessary hospitalizations and surgeries. Eligible costs include inpatient procedures, room and board, anesthesia, and more, ensuring you get support when you need it most. For more details, see our guidelines for eligible hospital expenses.   

2. Emergency Room Visits

   For urgent, unplanned situations, Medi-Share eligible expenses include emergency room visits for sudden illnesses, accidents, and injuries requiring immediate care. 

3. Specialist Care for Illnesses or Injuries

   When a doctor refers you to a specialist—such as for cardiology, diabetes management, or oncology—Medi-Share helps share in the costs of medically necessary care. 

3. Labs, Imaging, and Diagnostic Testing

   Medi-Share eligible expenses include essential diagnostic tests like blood work, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and other labs when ordered by a physician for an eligible for sharing condition. 

5. Maternity Care (Subject to Sharing Guidelines)

   Maternity care is an important part of Medi-Share’s sharing model. Eligible expenses include prenatal visits, labor and delivery, and postnatal care, subject to the program’s maternity guidelines.

5. Prescription Medications

   Prescription medications, including maintenance medications are eligible for sharing for six months from the date of diagnosis, per each new condition that is not pre-existing. Does Medi-Share Share in Pre-Existing Conditions? 

Pre-existing conditions are handled with care and grace. While not all pre-existing conditions are immediately eligible, some may qualify after meeting certain health criteria or a symptom-free period. Each situation is reviewed individually. • A pre-existing medical condition is defined as signs/symptoms, testing, diagnosis, treatment, OR medication for a condition within 36 months prior to membership (based on medical records).
