Health Care Sharing for Seniors

Exploring Health Care Options for Medicare Recipients and How Medi-Share 65+ Stands Out as an Affordable Secondary Option to Medicare.

Getting Started with Medi-Share 65+

Navigating the complexities of health care can be challenging, especially for those with Medicare. Because Medicare doesn’t pay for all your medical costs, it’s important to choose a secondary program that is going to be helpful to your budget and still provide comprehensive medical services, based on your needs and the program options available to you. Not all secondary programs offer the same features. Some help you save on your monthly costs while others allow you to save on your out-of-pocket expenses, especially when you have larger medical events. Finding the best fit suited to you is a challenge.

What is Medi-Share 65+?

Medi-Share 65+ is a new and improved secondary option for seniors with Medicare. It is a medical bill sharing program for seniors 65 and older who have Medicare Parts A and B. For seniors in their retirement years Medi-Share 65+ is an affordable choice. It begins at $99/month and helps fill in the financial gaps left behind by Medicare. Unlike other secondary options, members get to be a part of a Christian community that supports and believes in the biblical way to do health care all while getting a solution for their increasing medical bills

Cost Factors with Medicare Secondary Options

When choosing a Medicare secondary option, you need to understand all the various costs that come into play. Medicare Part A is free for most people, but to get Medicare Part B, there is a monthly premium (this amount will depend on your income). This is why Medicare Advantage Plans can sometimes look enticing.  Also, an important thing to remember with Medicare Advantage Plans, is that typically, you will still be responsible for paying your Medicare Part B premium.

The key Medicare cost factors associated with other options can include monthly premiums, deductibles, copays and coinsurance, which is the amount that you pay after Medicare pays their part. The variability in these costs is what makes your selection in a supplement or health sharing ministry important. These variables are huge factors in how a program is going to save you on those increasing medical bills over the long run.

Understanding How Health Care Sharing Works

When you sign up for Medi-Share 65+, Medicare will be your primary health care. As a Medi-Share 65+ member, you are responsible for a low $500 Annual Household Portion (AHP). Once your $500 AHP is met, all eligible medical bills are eligible for sharing. Fellow members within the Medi-Share 65+ community help share the portion of your eligible medical bills that Medicare leaves behind —including:

What Does Medi-Share 65+ Cost?

You can start Medi-Share 65+ at the age of 65 for a low monthly price of $99 a month for up to 10 years. At the age of 75, Medi-Share 65+ adjusts to $150.  As a member, you have an annual responsibility ($500 Annual Household Portion), this is the amount of bills you are responsible for before bills are eligible for sharing. Once you’ve met your annual responsibility, all eligible medical expenses that Medicare does not pay will be sharable by your fellow Medi-Share 65+ members. Please Note: Medi-Share 65+ will always be secondary to Medicare.
