“Meaningless! Meaningless!”
says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2)
The book of Ecclesiastes gives us a stark reminder of the difference between earthly things and heavenly things. Too often we let materialism and the desire of earthly things get in the way of our relationship and trust in God. But what ultimately matters for eternity? And are we putting our efforts toward heavenly things?
Many people concern themselves with working hard to earn money to spend on luxuries and keep up with the money and possessions that other people have around us. Meaningless! What we should be focusing on is not money, work, or possessions, but understanding what we are doing to advance the kingdom of God.
