In January of 2024, the Medi-Share Weight Loss Program: Health Coaching with a Higher Purpose was officially launched as an added benefit to our Health Partnership Program.
With over 70% of Americans struggling with their weight and weight-related health conditions, we saw a need and desired to offer a sustainable solution that addresses the whole person—spirit, body, and mind.
The Medi-Share Weight Loss Program is an engaging 6-month, biblically-based solution to weight management. This unique program takes a whole health approach, going beyond just diet and exercise. We focus on the root of why we engage in behaviors and how to build new habits that stick. Through a devotional-style model, the program’s motivation and purpose for weight management is to glorify God in all we do.

The Role of the Health Coach
Members share that one of the biggest differences in our program is the one-on-one relationship with their Health Coach. Our Certified Health Coaches specialize in behavior change. Each 30-minute coaching session is used to set health goals, create strategies around common barriers, discuss cognitive behavior change strategies, explore motivation, and more! Members receive individualized support that can help ensure consistent progress toward their goals and graduation.
Medi-Share Health Coaches are first and foremost strong Christians, rooted and mature in their faith. They are fully certified in Wellcoaches School of Coaching, as well as Certified Personal Trainers. Each coach has a unique professional background focused on nutrition, exercise, or psychology. Our team includes:

- Masters of Public Health
- Masters of Arts in Counseling
- National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coaching
Imagine the benefits of talking to a certified professional coach on the telephone every 2-3 weeks as you move through the devotional-style modules. Your Health Coach is not only your guide and accountability partner, but he or she will also challenge you, point you to Scripture, and pray for you throughout your personal health journey.

The 6-month Weight Loss Program is available to any current Health Partner at no added cost. If you have a goal and aspiration to lose weight of any amount and are willing to commit to 24 weeks, then this program is absolutely right for you!

Enrollment is easy. Upon joining you will receive an email granting exclusive access to content which you can access through the free App or any Web browser. To begin, schedule an appointment with a Medi-Share Health Coach of your choosing, and meet with your personal Coach every 2-3 weeks throughout the Program.

One of our Health Coaches had a recent conversation with Kathleen, a Weight Loss Program participant, who had an amazing story to share:
Q: What successes have you seen in the past 12 weeks by participating in the Medi-Share Weight Loss Program?
A: I've lost over 20lbs and started exercising more regularly—both cardio and weight training. I have faithfully tracked everything that I've had to eat or drink... even if it wasn't a wise choice. I can now fit into some clothes that I haven't worn in nearly 3 years! I have more energy and am encouraged by my sleep patterns improving, as well. The fit tracker from Yoo has been very motivating to increase my activity and sleep.
On trips and vacations, I've been able to plan ahead and take food with me that is better for me, or look ahead to see what is offered at a restaurant before I go. Planning menus and changing my shopping day has been VERY helpful. I can prep more food ahead of time so that the "go to" food is healthy and ready. I don't feel like I have to grab something unhealthy just because that's all there is to eat.
Q: Are you happy with the progress you have seen in the past 12 weeks? Why or why not?
A: Definitely! The health coach component has been essential. I look forward to my coach's calls. Her thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and prayers are invaluable. She can see things that I can't, and it's so helpful to have her perspective and encouragement on my journey.
The weight loss program modules come in a timely manner and aren't overwhelming, yet they prompt more thought and awareness of things. The training has helped me focus on my goals and think of ways to improve my efforts toward weight loss. I’ve been able to set realistic goals that are specific. I'm seeing that I have choices. Others barely notice what I am doing so there's no need to eat something just to please someone else!
