Employee Spotlight - David O'Riordan

Mar 12, 2020

Reading time: 5 Minutes

Periodically, we like to highlight some of our outstanding employees at Christian Care Ministry (CCM), and learn a little bit more about their story. Meet David O'Riordan! He serves as the Senior Operations Manager for our Contact Center in our offices in Colorado Springs, CO.

Our Contact Center is at the foundation of what we do at Christian Care Ministry. Every time a member calls or chats with a Member Service Representative, they are speaking to someone on Dave's team. We're so thankful for his leadership and all that he does here.

Q: How long have you worked at the Ministry and in what capacities?

I have worked in the ministry since September of 2018 as Senior Operations Manager in our Colorado location.

Q: What led you to CCM?

In 2014, my wife and I along with our kids immigrated to the United States from Ireland. We had sold everything and crossed the ocean with four suitcases (One was full of my sons toys). We had about $1500 to our name and a friend of mine had a two-car garage that he let us live in for the first few weeks after arriving in the States. I remember one night sitting awake watching my wife and kids sleeping in this garage and wondering what God was doing. After a few weeks and working some off jobs, a church in Arizona asked if we wanted to move into an apartment on their campus if I helped with worship. We moved to Scottsdale and I was able to serve there for a number of weeks. We then moved to Idaho where I started working for a major insurance company until I started my position here with CCM. I stumbled across CCM online and, at first, I thought it was too good to be true. I had been working as a Division Manager (Snr. Operations) and had seen a lot of success in that company, and never thought I would work anywhere else. However, as soon as I came across CCM I knew God was at work and it was an opportunity to blend my professional background with my ministry background and make a kingdom impact. It was an easy decision once I learned that an organization existed which had an incredible program to offer, all while operating in a Christ-centered environment.

Q: How does having half the Contact Center in Colorado benefit our members?

Having half the Contact Center in Colorado allows us to continue operating if there is ever a weather issue in another location. It also allows us to remain open longer for members and providers during the day with having multiple time zones to operate within.

Q: Where did you grow up?

Cork City in the South of Ireland― a city which began as a monastic settlement and was founded by St. Finbar in the sixth century. All my family still lives there and it is known for things such as the Titanic’s last port of call, Blarney Castle (15 minutes form my parents’ house), and being the food capital of Europe, (and Not Lucky Charms…)

Q: How is Christian Care Ministry different from other call center workplaces?

It is a family; I get to work with my spiritual family every day. We get to pray for our members, providers, and each other. I remember one instance when I had just started my position at CCM where I had a family member going through a medical situation. I had mentioned to my new boss Eastand at the time about the situation and he stopped immediately and prayed. I knew right there and then that there was something very special about this place. One of the trends I have found since working here is that everyone I have spoken to about how they ended up at CCM has a similar experience; we all can see how God has moved to bring each person here for a reason. You can clearly see God is at work and it is exciting to watch God move in this ministry.

Q: Tell us about your family.

I got married back in 2004 and we have three kids. My two boys were born in Ireland and my daughter was born here in the USA. I have two brothers and one sister who all live back in Ireland with their families.

Q: How did you come to know the Lord/what is your testimony?

Growing up in Ireland there were not a lot of churches around when my parents were saved. We ended up going to a house church initially and then found a Baptist church where we spent a number of years. I asked the Lord into my life when I was 7 years old and over the years I have had the opportunity to serve as a worship leader, in missions work, and church planting. I learned to play the guitar when I was about 8 and God has used this to take me to various parts of the world helping with worship over the years. I have also had the opportunity to serve in pastoral work over the last 20 years. Coming to work at CCM has allowed me to leverage my experiences in ministry along with my professional experience to help make an impact for God’s kingdom.

Q: What are your hobbies or passions?

I really enjoy photography, the outdoors, hiking, and exploring various trails here in Colorado.
