Have you every felt like you have been dealing with something in your life that you just couldn’t get away from?
Like the Israelites, have you given into the voice of the enemy, and played out in your mind all of the things that could go wrong?
The story of David and Goliath can teach us how to face the giants in our lives. While the Israelites stood trembling, David looked to God for strength, deliverance, and protection. Where did David’s bravery come from?
- David remembered what God had done.
- David trusted what God could do.
- David glorified God for what he did.
1 Samuel 17:46-47 records the confident words of David to Goliath before they fight: “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
Today, let’s stand up to the giants in our lives.
Are you willing to remember the times when God rescued, healed, delivered, and provided for us? Are you willing to move forward by faith in the Lord’s strength? Are you willing to trust God with the battle?
