Retirement is a significant life change. One that necessitates considerable adjustment. From restructuring the week to reevaluating finances, there are many new pieces to consider. Thankfully, Darrel and Rose found that adjusting to Medi-Share wasn’t difficult at all.
As Darrel transitioned into retirement in 2020, he and his wife, Rose, researched several options for healthcare. Continuing on the plan that he had with his employer was too expensive. “It wasn’t what we needed at the time,” he says. So, they began to look into alternatives.
When the two of them heard about Medi-Share, they were attracted not only to the affordable monthly share price but also to the ease of use. The straightforward process at Medi-Share offered a sense of familiarity. The two of them were accustomed to a system where they could easily look up in-network providers and present a card for bill processing. And that’s what they found with Medi-Share.
“That helped my wife and I make the decision to go with Medi-Share,” Darrel says.
Many Medi-Share members agree that our system of bill sharing is easy to adapt to. Since we are a part of the First Health network, members can look up doctors and hospitals on the website to verify participation with Medi-Share pricing and sharing. When visiting the healthcare provider, members then can show their First Health card, and bills are sent directly to Medi-Share for sharing.
Darrel goes on to say, “We had a little anticipation to begin with, but it didn’t take long [to realize] we’d made the right decision.
Rose and Darrel are generally very healthy. In fact, they both qualify for Medi-Share’s health incentive discount. However, from time to time, Darrel struggles with kidney stones.
At one point, Darrel needed to have a procedure done to take care of his kidney stones. Afterward, he developed a blood infection that required him to be in the hospital for four days. For him and Rose, that was a major test of their membership with Medi-Share.
“It was seamless,” he recalls. “Medi-Share kicked in and took care of me.”
Rose has had sinus surgeries in the past few years as well, and every time Medi-Share shared in their healthcare costs exactly the way the plan promises.
“It’s a blessing,” Darrel says. “That’s what it’s all about, taking care of each other.”
Now, with six years of Medi-Share membership under their belts, Rose and Darrel often tell others about their positive experience. “The medical world is scary. People get skeptical,” Darrel says. He acknowledges that people are searching for assurance, for peace of mind that they won’t lose everything if they get sick.
And thankfully, Darrel and Rose have found that assurance through Medi-Share. With an easy-to-use system and proven sharing in their expenses, Medi-Share makes sense for Rose and Darrel. They even plan to keep Medi-Share as a supplement when their Medicare benefits begin soon.
We’re so grateful for Rose and Darrel’s membership in our Medi-Share community. Our ministry thrives because of our members!
